This website is my personal blog, a place to share my battle with cancer while striving to be a better husband to my beloved wife and a better dad to my five children.
While, I trying to:
I’ve tried to juggle every one of these goals and I’ve failed more times than I can count and each and every one of them. This site is for anyone who has stumbled while chasing big dreams. Even when our efforts (and our families) don’t look perfect to us or to others, what matters most is what we do next.
Here is my conviction: when we give our best and still fall short, but we choose to fail with God the Father, and with His beloved son Jesus Christ our Savior, and our dear friend the Holy Spirit, and alongside those who love us, something beautiful happens. Together, a community of “don’t‑give‑up failures” can learn more and bless the world far more than any tidy string of successes ever could. Because life isn’t about failure or success; it’s about how those moments transform us.
Yes, I’m a fan of achievement. People who know me understand how perfectionistic I can be and how intensely I pursue results. I’ve reached milestones that I count as true successes, chief among them being sealed to my wife in the temple and becoming a father of five awesome kids. Ironically, those same areas are where I fail the most. Yet we seven, with God’s help, keep trying together. Trying alone is painful, sometimes unbearable. That’s why I’m seeking others who feel like they’re failing, to remind them (and especially myself) that we don’t have to fail alone.
I’m also writing to those who might be faltering a little less at the moment. If you have a bit more energy emotionally, physically, spiritually, academically, or professionally, please remember how it felt to struggle in isolation. Look around; someone near you is hurting right now. Treat them kindly, refuse harsh judgment, and invite them into this journey. We are all “don’t‑give‑up failures.”
Finally, I want every reader to know that no matter how big or small your setback feels, you still have something to offer. Even perhaps especially when you’re failing hard, you can lift someone else. In doing so, we all become better people, and we discover life’s real success: refusing to quit.
So, if we’re all “don’t‑give‑up failures,” why not fail together? It’s far better than failing alone.
Let’s fail together.
